Claire Sweeney thrilled fans when she arrived on Coronation Street last month.

The 52-year-old lit up the screen as Tyrone Dobbs’ long lost mum, Cassandra Plummer. The former Brookside star underwent a dramatic transformation to play the troubled drug addict as Claire looks world’s apart from her usual glamorous self.

The Walton star has relished the opportunity to play the role but joked there were some parts of the transformation she found difficult. She told the ECHO and other press; “Being a Scouser, getting my nails and lashes off is quite traumatic.

“She’s really stripped back and the makeup design have done a fantastic job of making me look as rough as anything.” Claire is incredibly proud of her roots and recently showed our sister site, OK!, around her stunning Liverpool home.

She lives in the property alongside her eight-year-old son, Jaxon, and Claire has previously said how getting to spend quality time with her child has made the Corrie role extra special. She said: “I’m a single mum and my decisions are not only based on the love of what I do but they’re based on stability for me and my son. I’m 52 years of age now.

“Not only is it the best soap, not only is she a wonderful part but having stability for a while just comes at the right time as well. Not touring in a musical in a different place every week. I get to have my full weekends with my boy now, which is lovely.”

Claire first bought her home when she was in Brookside and is still just as in love with it now as she was in the 90s. She said: “I just feel so grateful for things. I’m blessed that at 52 I still love what I do and I’ve got my son and my house. I feel great.”

Claire’s incredible home has a very contemporary feel thanks to its high ceilings, white and exposed brickwork. Claire’s gave OK! a glimpse into her bedroom, which features a large brick arch which creates a cosy alcove at the foot of her bed.

Claire told OK! that her bed is one of her favourite spots in the house. She added: “I love this room because it’s so big, spacious. But it’s got my bed which is an emperor bed, seven foot by seven foot. I’ve got my telly that comes out the bottom”

The ornate living room is adorned with majestic purple and gold wallpaper. Claire’s home was formerly a flour warehouse and boasts beautiful views. of the Liverpool waterfront from the living room.

Claire is a proud Liverpudlian and she even has one of the city’s most iconic symbols in her home. She said: “Another one of my favourite things in here is my lamb banana. It’s a landmark in Liverpool that’s all over the city.”
