‘Days of Our Lives’ Star Tyler Joseph Andrews Is Making New Role His Own

The actor originally auditioned for the role of Tate Black and was called back for a second audition. Once hired, he then realized that he was actually cast as the new Theo Carver. The character has decided to return home after breaking up with Claire Brady.

“He’s coming back sort of lost, but he’s trying to find himself, and he’s trying to find that purpose that he needs in life. He’s maturing, and he wants to solidify something in Salem for the future,” explains Andrews.

Theo Carver Is Also a Member of the DiMera Family

While Theo has his father, Abe Carver’s, last name, his mother, Lexie, was Stefano DiMera’s daughter. That lends itself to all kinds of mischievous, if not plain dangerous, implications. According to the Days brass, they are bringing back Theo with the full intention of exploring the DiMera side of his heritage.

“I really love exploring the DiMera side because I get to work with actors like Thaao Penghlis, who really welcomed me, and he’s really been like an acting teacher for me, just watching him work,” the young actor explains.

“It’s a different energy working with that side of the family, and it brings a different behavior out of Theo. I think the more he gets involved with the DiMera side of the family, he might adapt some of those attributes that you’re used to seeing with them.”

Of course, Abe Carver will aim to keep his son as far from the DiMeras as possible. James Reynolds, who plays Abe, has also been invaluable to Andrews. “I love working with Jim. He’s really become one of my best friends here. He’s been really great because he’s so knowledgeable, and he’s been doing this for so long. If you just watch him, he teaches you a lot about finding the camera and finding the light. I love being able to go to his room and talk to him because he’s always available and he’ll tell you the old stories about back in the day and how they used to film and all those things, and I really enjoy that.”
