One member of the Platt family was nowhere to be seen on the soap

Coronation Street viewers found themselves asking the same question as one character seemed to be “missing” from the episode. The drama continued in Weatherfield during Wednesday’s jam-packed episode which saw Todd order Theo to pack his bags. Meanwhile at the Platt household, Shona was ready to attend a pregnancy scan but David was nowhere to be seen.

Last month, Shona shared the exciting news she was expecting her first child with David. The couple tied the knot in 2019 and have had their fair share of drama on the soap, including a terrifying house fire earlier this year.

Shona was due to attend her first baby scan this week. Concerned about her husband’s whereabouts when he didn’t show, Shona called him and David revealed he was trapped in a lift in the city centre.

He had gone in to town to pick up some supplies for the hairdressers. Meanwhile back at the house, Shona opened up to Bethany that she didn’t want to attend the appointment on her own.

Later in the episode, Shona listened to some voice notes from David, who was still trapped in the lift. He sent his support and best wishes, as well as apologising for missing the special moment.

However, Corrie fans all said the same thing as they wondered why David was not in the episode, as viewers could only hear his voice through Shona’s phone during the hour-long broadcast.

Taking to social media, one asked: “Where’s David?” A second said: “David on the phone?!” A third asked: “What’s with all the David on the phone scenes? Not available to be on set today?”

A fourth joked: “Jack P Shepherd who plays David got to work from home for this episode” with a laughing face emoji.

A fifth clever viewer said: “I wonder if these scenes were filmed when David was in Big Brother house sipping tea all day every day, every hour.”

When Shona called David, she said she had missed the appointment because she didn’t want to go alone. She told him she had rescheduled for a later date, when they will find out the baby’s gender together.

But it wasn’t the only storyline happening at the Platts, as Audrey offered Bethany a job at the salon doing nails. After careful consideration, Bethany revealed she wanted to accept the offer and was keen to get started working with her family again.
