Coronation Street fans have predicted a shock new romance between Besty Swain and an older man.

Troublemaker Betsy, played by Sydney Martin, rocked up to the cobbles last year, as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

It was revealed that Betsy was raised by two mums, Lisa and Becky (Amy Cudden). However, in late 2021 Becky supposedly died off-screen after being hit by a car while on active duty.

And since Betsy’s arrival on the soap, it hasn’t taken her long to find herself involved in several big moments. Earlier this year, she was left heartbroken when boyfriend Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) was killed off after being stabbed.

Still grieving, things went from bad to worse for Betsy when she was shot in March by killer Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss). At the time, he was holding Lisa and her girlfriend Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage.
And last week, Betsy turned 18 – but the day didn’t go smoothly for the teen as she was almost hit by a car during a hit-and-run, leaving her completely shaken.

What’s more, around the same time, she had no idea that her mum had shown up at Carla and Lisa’s home, as she is not really dead. Becky revealed to a shocked Lisa that she went into witness protection after an undercover operation went wrong.

Lisa was overcome with the news, but angry that Becky put her and Betsy through so much. And when Becky asked to see Betsy, Lisa wasn’t having any of it and refused.

And in Monday’s episode (September 15) Betsy was still none the wiser about mum Becky, who again, showed up to try and persuade Lisa to let her see her daughter.
However, amid all the drama going down on the cobbles at the moment, fans can’t help but predict a shock new romance for Betsy and Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).
Viewers will recall that Ryan moved in with his aunt Carla and Lisa, as well as Betsy, last month. He and Betsy have struck up a sweet familial relationship so far, with Betsy confiding in Ryan about her dramatic birthday last week.
Fans have predicted a Betsy and Ryan romance
But according to fans, they think the pair will end up getting together in what would be a shock twist. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “Betsy and Ryan getting very close.”
Another added: “You know it crossed my mind watching it. I really hope they don’t make them become a thing but I could see where she could crush on him cos he’s so lovely.”
A third chimed in: “Yeah I thought that, it was more like they were gonna get together.” Someone else penned: “I knew that was coming.” A fifth then declared: “Hope not!”
