Warning, this article contains spoilers from Monday night’s episode now available on ITVX.

The policewoman has been in a relationship with Underworld factory boss Carla Connor for just under a year now, and they have gone on to become a social media sensation known as Swarla.

But fans will know that things have already been tested between the pair since Lisa’s wife Becky came back from the dead. Lisa had believed that her wife, a fellow police officer, had been killed in the line of duty but shortly after she got engaged to Carla, this turned out to not be the case, and it was revealed she had been living in Spain. With Carla out of the picture for the moment as she is off visiting family in Ireland, Becky has wasted no time in trying to get her feet back under the table but now it seems as if a double exit could be well and truly on the cards.

Lisa and Becky’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) was wrongly arrested last week, and tonight, Becky took a call from corrupt DI Costello, where he told her she needs to leave for Spain as soon as possible. When Becky pointed out to Betsy that she could have a life of lounging around on the beach, Betsy said: “I think…I want to come with you.”

Delighted, Lisa replied: “Yeah? You’ve no idea how happy that makes me. We can work on mum together, and if we put our minds to it, maybe we can steal her away too?”

Becky has been playing the hero and has now come up with a twisted plot to ‘steal’ Lisa away from Carla

Viewers will remember that Roy Cropper was one of the first outside of number six to discover the truth, and, as someone who has acted as a fatherly figure to Carla for years, he has had his concerns ever since. At one point, Lisa and Becky were snuggling on the sofa but before it could go any further, he and Betsy came through the door. This led to Lisa calling around at the café, where Roy asked her: “Do you still love Becky?”

With little hesitation, Lisa replied: “Yes. I still love Becky.” In tears, she added: “I’ll save you the awkwardness asking the most obvious question. If I love them both, who do I love more? Who do I want to be with now and for the rest of my life? It is Carla. A hundred times Carla, but being around Becky…I…” It was then that Roy suggested that it is indeed time for Becky to leave.

Lisa seemingly agreed, as she tried to persuade Betsy the same when she got back home. But once everyone else had gone to bed, Becky hung round and waited for Betsy to come downstairs where she revealed her plan to steal Lisa back.

Becky has managed to persuade her daughter Betsy to move to Spain with her now that she has come back from the dead

All the drama did not go down too well with fans of Swarla, with one writing: “It’s a headf*** watching this storyline unfold. The constant up & downs, my brain doesn’t know how to feel anymore….

“But I suppose that’s the point. If this is how we feel as the viewer, Lisa must feel this times a thousand, with this being her reality.”

Another said: “Afraid to say we are a long way off Lisa choosing Carla, the moment to choose Carla was before this happened & they were interrupted from what was going to happen next!”

And a third took issue with the way it would all play out logistically if Betsy did move to Spain, since she would presumably need some form of employment to survive.

They wrote: “Betsy, do you maybe want to question Becky where this cashflow you’ll be living off of in Spain will come from? Who is bank rolling Becky? Since you can apparently just lounge on the beach all day and not get a job.”
