Coronation Street’s Sally and Tim Metcalfe might be on the brink of a surprising break-up, with fans already speculating about Sally’s potential new flame.

Sally (played by Sally Dynevor) and Tim (portrayed by Joe Duttine) are among the soap’s most cherished couples. The duo sparked a romance in 2013, tied the knot in 2015, and then remarried in 2020.

However, recent events on the cobbles have put their relationship under strain. This week, Tim was taken aback when he picked up a woman in his taxi, recognising her as Trisha Pinkerton from his past.

Tim revealed that he and Trisha had known each other in the 1980s when she took his virginity. He was only 14 at the time, while she was in her 20s.

After sharing this with his mate Brian Packham (Peter Gunn), Brian was appalled and explained to Tim that it was actually grooming since he was underage. However, Tim seemed reluctant to accept this interpretation, reports the Daily Star.

In Friday’s episode (10 October), Brian confronted Trisha, accusing her of grooming Tim when he was a child, an accusation she denied. Tim was livid with Brian, but Brian stood his ground, insisting that Tim needed to acknowledge that he had been groomed by Trisha.

Later, Tim confided in his wife Sally about his past with Trisha. Sally agreed with Paul that Trisha had groomed him. However, Tim defended Trisha, leading to a heated argument between him and Sally.

However, with more drama on the horizon, fans are speculating a surprise break up between Sally and Tim. Moreover, they’ve also ‘sussed out’ Sally’s next romantic interest on the cobbles.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer suggested her ex-husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). Kevin has recently experienced his own heartbreak after uncovering his wife Abi (Sally Carman) and brother Carl’s (Jonathan Howard) affair.

Anticipating a reunion, one fan pondered: “Can Kevin go back with Sally again.” Another concurred: “Yes maybe for old time sakes Tim might have an affair with that new woman.”

A third added their thoughts: “Stranger things have happened never say never it is soap land after all waiting to see how it comes out.” Another proclaimed: “Watch this space! The foundations are being laid, you might have a point.”
