A big return and plenty of drama (Picture: ITV/Metro)

Eva Price’s (Catherine Tyldesley) grand return to Coronation Street was never going to go smoothly, and between two warring sisters and an incredibly meddlesome mother in law, it proves to be anything but.

While Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) continues to struggle with her mental health, an interaction with a stranger could be exactly what she needs, while the war between the Webster’s could reach peace time, as Carl (Jonathan Howard) suggests that he, Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) should band together in the face of Debbie’s dementia.

Elsewhere, Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) continues to manipulate the situation between herself, Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Carla and Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) believes she’s found her tormentor.

The Price/Driscoll clan arrive (Picture: ITV)

Eva makes her glorious return as Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) reveals he’s bought the Rover’s for her. Elated to be reunited with her sister, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), she urges Leanne to fetch Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) so they can all celebrate together, but, as she does, Leanne finds Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), mid-proposal.

Susie (Aurora Bradshaw) and Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) arrive, leaving Ollie scrambling to explain to (Channique Sterling-Brown) the reason he withheld his true identity, and that Ben, his dad, had sworn him to secrecy.

As the family settle in, Toyah and Leanne go head to head, leading Eva to lock the three of them together in the back room, determined to sort things out between the warring sisters, though her own mood sours upon the arrival of Ben’s mum, Maggie (Pauline McLynn), who announces, to Eva’s sheer horror, that she’s moving in.

Elsewhere, Hope continues to receive nasty messages from her troll and accuses Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw) of being the person behind them, while Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) opens up to Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) over Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) financial woes and when George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) gives Theo a list of odd jobs to do to earn some cash, he’s left in a dark mood.

Maggie steps in to help Asha (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV)

Asha struggles to manage her depression and, despite help from Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell), begins to spiral. Maggie encounters Asha and gently encourages her to open up.

Suggesting that Asha should show herself the same kindness and compassion she’s showed patients as a paramedic, Asha’s left with food for thought.

As Eva calls a staff meeting, she’s soundly put in her place by Maggie who reveals that, while Eva may be landlady, she’s the boss. When Dee-Dee tells Ollie that the case against him has been dropped, he laments that the car he was involved in an accident with had a dodgy M.O.T. Ears pricking up, and with no desire to keep his cheating brothers secret, Kevin begins to sling mud in Carl’s direction. As the tension continues to rise, Eva throws Kevin out, and Carl follows him to the garage.

Carla is wounded when she discovers the footage of Becky and Lisa modelling Betsy Swain’s (Sydney Martin) designs, Becky seizes the opportunity to make a move on Lisa. Arriving at the Halloween party, Becky has the song that she and Lisa had their first dance to and tells her ex-wife that they’d been happy before and could be again.

Meanwhile, at the party, Eva encounters Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) again, leading Maggie to muse how many other ex-boyfriend Eva may have lying around their new home.

Finding Carl outside of the pub, having been thrown out by Ben, James Bailey (Jason Callender) assures Carl that, despite everything, he still cares about him. When Debbie appears, she surmises that Carl is sleeping with James, too. When Kevin tries to mend things with Debbie, Carl suggests they all draw a line under the chaos, for the sake of her condition.
